Begin this essay by describing 2-4 core issues that show how important states are to people lives and liberty. Using our main text as a guide, then explain the recent developments in national politics and in the courts that have empowered states to be more important. In other words, what changed in the US to strengthen state policy roles (or that weakened the national government's role)? Conclude with a discussion of whether this is beneficial or disruptive for carrying out policy that the national government wants to pursue.
