Xаvier is а first-generаtiоn cоllege student whо recently enrolled at the University of North Dakota (UND). Initially, Xavier understood that he had at least one thing in common with others enrolled at UND - they were all college students - but he did not feel connected to the general UND student population. Within his first week of college, Xavier was encouraged by one of his teachers to attend a meeting for UND First Generation College Students so that he can meet people in the same position as himself. Xavier met several other first-generation college students at varying levels of their academic career and some who had graduated. He identified with and regularly interacted with those students over time, and the development of these relationships helped him acclimate to the University environment.
