3. Plаte Tectоnic Theоry [13pts Tоtаl]: (pаrt 2 of 3) 3b. [5pts] (Seafloor Spreading Hypothesis) Make a numbered list. Write a scientific argument statement that argues for at least three (2) lines of evidence that Harry Hess’ made to suggest that the Atlantic Ocean basin was youngest in the center and older at its margins, therefore suggesting the sea floor must be relatively young and actively being created at its center (remember, Hess does not know about plate tectonics at the time of his publication, he is just making an augment for young ocean basins and spreading at the topographic high in the center as a mechanism). For Example, "If sedimentation rates observed today were the same as in the past and the ocean basins are as old as the continents, there should be significantly more sediments on the sea floor, suggesting that the ocean basins must be relatively young and being actively created."
4. Eаrth’s Rheоlоgicаl аnd Cоmpositional Structure (10pts Total]): (Part 1 of 3) The figure below shows the temperature-pressure dependent melting relationships of Earth’s interior (solidus), from the surface (0 km) to its center (~6300 km), as well as a generic geothermal gradient for Earth. 4a) (4 pts): Determine the approximate depth (km) of the base of each of Earths Rheologic layers (e.g., 100, 900, 1100 2500): By 100's, in other words NO numbers like 157. Do NOT include units. Lithosphere [depth1] Asthenosphere [depth2] Mesosphere [depth3] Outer Core [depth4] Inner core [depth5]
