Instructiоns Fоr tоdаy’s finаl essаy response for your Signature assignment, review the two choices and choose one that you would most like to respond to and can complete thoroughly for each prompt. Give a thoughtful and detailed response, but do not worry about addressing every possible passage or issue. Reminder: This is not a writing-intensive course; the essay may be completed in paragraph or bullet point format. Choices Choice 1: How could the Hebrew people faithfully worship God, according to the Old Testament? Worship in Hebrew can mean “work” or “serve.” It can also refer to activities similar to what we tend to call worship today. Choice 2: What is an Old Testament view of kingship? Prompt Based on your choice, make sure to address each component: Part 1: Introduction In your response, include at least three extensive citations of biblical sources. Plentiful, direct citations to book, chapter, and verse. For each citation, briefly explain what’s going on in that part of the Bible Examples: Where is it in the story of the Old Testament? What happened right before and/or after? Is it a law or song? etc. Demonstrate awareness of the immediate literary context of each citation When citing a verse or short section of verses, show an understanding of how the verse(s) fit into that part of the biblical book. Part 2: Alternative Response In one paragraph, provide a different viewpoint on your biblical response that someone might reasonably give regarding your selected choice. A different viewpoint on your choice may involve different interpretations of biblical passages, different life experiences of the issue, or a variety of other matters that influence the biblical response a person can make. Please note that this imagined argument is to be made in good faith - doing our best to understand a different perspective and giving it some dimension. You may certainly choose to portray an interpretation with which you disagree; we simply ask that this not be an opportunity to present the opposing argument in bad faith. Your imagined viewpoint does not need to oppose your choice; the focus is viewing your topic differently. Part 3: Research Questions Complete at least one paragraph.
