To ensure the integrity of the testing environment during аssessments, аll students are required to have an external camera for side-angle viewing. The side view is essential for monitoring your workspace and ensuring compliance with exam protocols. Please ensure that your camera is set up according to the provided guidelines before beginning your exam. Starting in Fall 2026, your iPhone or Android will work as an external camera. How Does Honorlock Work? Our remote proctoring services combine the benefits of AI software with those of live test proctors. Honorlock’s proctoring software monitors your exam session and alerts a live test proctor if it detects any problems. This means that you won’t be watched during the entire exam. Once alerted, our human proctors have the opportunity to assess the situation and then enter your exam session, via chat, to help you get back on track. How Will a Proctor Interaction Go? Think of our test proctors as a resource to help you successfully complete your proctored exam. A nationally certified counselor and educator trained our full-time online proctoring team to help support you during moments of test anxiety and frustration. This human-centric, person-to-person communication approach between you and the remote proctor aims to help you gain confidence in the proctoring process and the people. Easy Proctored Exam Setup Honorlock’s proctoring software is primarily browser-based and most students will not have to download any software to access it. You’ll need to use the Google Chrome browser and once you install the Honorlock Chrome extension, you simply log into your school’s learning management system like you normally do and get started. We’ll walk you through a quick 60-second pre-test checklist to make sure you’re ready for the proctored exam. You’ll start by scanning the room with your webcam to ensure that no one else is present and that you’re not using any external resources, and then we’ll have you verify your identity by taking a picture of both yourself and your photo ID with your webcam. What Do I Need to Take the Proctored Exam? Guidelines When taking an online exam, follow these guidelines: Select a location where you are comfortable having a video recording taken of yourself and your workspace environment. This area should be free of distractions and interruption. Turn off all other devices (e.g. tablets, phones, second computers) and place them outside of your reach or receive a zero. Before starting the test, know how much time is available for it, and also that you've allotted sufficient time to complete it Clear your desk or workspace of all external materials not permitted - books, papers, other devices, or receive a zero. Remain at your computer for the duration of the test, or receive a zero. If the computer, Wi-Fi, or location is different than what was used previously with the "Webcam Check" and "System & Network Check" in LockDown Browser, run the checks again prior to the exam To produce a good webcam video, do the following: Avoid wearing baseball caps or hats with brims Ensure your computer or device is on a firm surface (a desk or table). Do NOT have the computer on your lap, a bed, or other surface where the device (or you) are likely to move If using a built-in webcam, avoid readjusting the tilt of the screen after the webcam setup is complete Take the exam in a well-lit room, but avoid backlighting (such as sitting with your back to a window) Remember that Honorlock will prevent you from accessing other websites or applications; you will be unable to exit the test until all questions are completed and submitted Test Windows The proctored tests will each be open for 7 days. Plan ahead, protect your time, and troubleshoot early. The proctored essаy assignments will be open for seven days, and you will not be able to take them after the end of the seven day period. Here are the due dates for the four major writing assignments: Essay #1 (Proctored): opens September 4 and closes September 10 Essay #2: October 8 Essay #3 (Proctored): opens October 23 and closes October 29 Essay #4: December 3 All other assignments will be due weekly on Thursdays, with a few exceptions as noted in the course.
