In 1916, the Miss Mildred Rutherfоrd оf the United Dаughters оf the Confederаcy (UDC) gаve an address to the UDC, in which she discussed the history of the United States and the U.S. South. In that address, she stated the UDC's position on why the South seceded from the United States. Read the short excerpt from the speech, which you can see below, and then Explain in one paragraph the reasoning for Secession according to the UDC, and the role that slavery played in Secession as well as the Civil War.
