I аm thinking аbоut buying 20 yeаrs оf term life insurance and wоuld like your help in analyzing my options. With term life, you pay a fixed monthly rate for the “term” (e.g., 10 or 20 years) of the insurance contract. Then, if you choose to do so, you can renew the contract for another term at the going rate for people of your age at that time. I am considering two options: Option I: A 20-year policy with monthly payments of $45.00 per month. Option II: A 10-year policy with monthly payments of $34.17 per month followed by another 10-year policy with monthly payments yet to be determined. The discount rate is 4.8% per year compounded monthly. Payments are due at the end of the month. (FYI: These are actual quotes available from TIAA/CREF, so this is a real problem.) Answer the following questions: Download this Excel answer file with this information in it. Use it to answer the following two questions showing your work and then upload your file to answer the following questions: Assuming that I live for 20 years and make all of my payments, what is the present value of the payments I will make for Option I, (a 20-year policy with fixed payments of $45.00)? The monthly payment for a 10-year policy for someone 10 years older than me is $75.83 per month. For this part, assume that remains constant. If that payment holds for the second term of Option II, what is the present value (as of today) of all of the payments in Option II (a 10-year policy with fixed payments of $34.17 followed by a 10-year policy with $75.83 payments that begins in 10 years)? What payment on the second 10-year contract would leave you indifferent between the two 10-year contracts and the 10-year contract?
