I hаve reаd аnd understand the Academic Integrity Pоlicy fоr this cоurse. Academic Integrity Policy Plagiarism Plagiarism is when you present someone else’s work as your own. You are expected to complete and submit your own original work in this course. Be sure to read the student handbook at this link: Student Handbook: Academic Integrity: Honor Code If you use another author’s work or quote, make sure to put it in quotation marks and cite the author. Reusing work from other courses requires instructor permission. All assignments will be checked for plagiarism using Turnitin Similarity Report. Academic Misconduct Academic misconduct includes, but isn’t limited to, plagiarism, cheating, having someone else take an exam for you or help you with an exam (unless it’s an approved accommodation), stealing, buying or selling course materials, or any other form of academic fraud. If academic misconduct happens, the instructor will address on a case-by-case basis per the Academic Integrity Policy Violation Process in the Temple College Student Handbook. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy I use AI tools to assist in grading and creating course content including to conduct research, course development, Achieve-Macmillan Learning, Turnitin Similarity Report, Nearpod Lessons, Kahoot Games, Quizlet, Mentimeter, OpenAI, Open OER, Plickers, Panopto, YouTube, closed captioning, and others. You are permitted to use AI tools for: Revising your own writing for spelling, grammar, word use, or punctuation. Testing and practicing your knowledge of course topics. Conducting basic research on course and assignment topics. Help with organization of your assignment. When using AI tools, you need to be aware of: (1) data privacy and security; (2) responsibilities; (3) misuse of AI systems; (4) environmental impact and algorithmic bias. Be aware that AI technology continues to evolve. AI is not perfect. Be aware that AI collects lots of data from your use and that your chats are public and searchable. Keep personal, identifiable, and proprietary information out of your AI chats. Be aware of bias in AI and that it can hallucinate-make things up. AI is not always trustworthy and the responses can reflect bias. Be careful relying on AI because: it can prevent the class from learning and growing through shared experiences, it can also block the development of critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for authentic learning, it can hinder your ability to develop your own voice and fully engage with the course content. I encourage you to share your unique perspectives and insights to enrich the learning experience for yourself and your peers. In discussion board posts, critical thinking exercises, essays, reflection exercises, and all work for this course, I am looking forward to and excited to receive your original work, written by you, based on your perspective, your lived experience, and your research.
