Fоr eаch оf the fоllowing situаtions, specify which stаtistical procedure would be appropriate and why. You may choose among any of those we covered this semester. A questionnaire was sent to collect data on voters of a recent bill on gun control. In addition to asking whether the respondent voted "yes" or "no", several other quantitative questions were asked, including age, number of guns owned, etc. The data scientist was interested in whether there was a difference between those who voted "yes" and those who voted "no" on average. A sample of children were given a test that measured each of three cognitive abilities: oral, qualitative, and quantitative. Additionally, they were evaluated on six problem-solving abilities. Researchers were interested in the extent of the connection between the cognitive abilities and the problem-solving abilities. Consider the scenario in part B above involving the abilities. However, suppose instead that the researchers collected only the six variables on problem solving but wished to explain those observed skills in terms of three latent variables related to cognitive ability. To fit a statistical model from a relatively small sample of data involving four quantitative variables, a multivariate normal distribution must be assumed. The student charged with assessing normality would like a visual aid suitable for all four variables simultaneously.
