With the remote proctor, you must follow the rules or you will be charged with cheating and will automatically receive a ZERO: When you use the online testing service: Your computer must meet the minimum requirements, specifically a working camera and microphone. Absolutely no use of a portable electronic device or phone is allowed. Turn your ringer to silent, do not take calls, do not answer texts. Put your phone somewhere where it will not distract you. You will lose 20 points if you are flagged for a secondary device. At the beginning of the exam you will be asked to scan the room. You must do a 360 scan of all workspaces showing the area to the right, left, and behind your computer clearly. You will lose 20 points if the scan is not sufficient. If someone comes into the room, ask them to leave. You will lose 20 points if other people are in the room. You may not have any textbooks, notes, electronic devices, or reference materials in your work area. You may not use any websites other than Canvas. You will lose 20 points if you are flagged for using additional resources. Some computers, especially Apple products, show pop-up messages when texts are sent to your phone or when emails arrive. If possible, disable this feature. If not, do not read any popups, close the popup window IMMEDIATELY after it appears. Response to any message is grounds for a cheating sanction.
