This pаtient is а seventy-five yeаr оld man twо days pоst cerebrovascular accident . He has a history of coronary artery disease , hypertension  and congestive heart failure .  Pre-treatment vital signs were blood pressure of 140/83 mm Hg, heart rateof 85 beats per minute, and an oxygen saturation rate of 97 percent . His left side active range of motion is within functional limits and right upper extremity and lower extremity passive range of motion is within normal limits .  His right manual muscle testing scores for hip flexion, extension, abduction , adduction, internal rotation and external rotation are equal to  grade of fair. He received neuromuscular electrical stimulation to the left VMO to help with repetitions of active assisted range of motion . He was then instructed in a home exercise program that included terminal knee extension exercises, each performed x10 repetitions, to be performed twice a day  without the extension brace, followed by a cold pack to the knee for pain as needed .  He also received gait training to the bedside commode .
