Mаry is а yоung lаdy whо tells yоu that she has never had sexual intercourse, and she would like to discuss birth control. She is currently dating a man who is her fiancée, and they are planning to have the wedding in three months. They would like to hold off having children. Mary comes from a family who are very private about discussing personal matters like the reproductive system. In fact, when she was 12 years old and started menstruating, a girlfriend had to tell her about what was happening to her body, what to expect, and how to deal with having a menstrual cycle. She never had any education on reproduction except for what she had gleaned from her girlfriend, and she was too embarrassed to ask her family or friends about her body. You realize that the purpose of her visit is more than just birth control counseling, but also to teach her about reproduction, her body, her fiancée’s body, and pregnancy. 1. To begin to educate Mary, you start with the menstrual cycle. What would you tell her? (5 pts) 2. Now that you have finished discussing the menstrual cycle, Mary starts to feel more trusting of you, and lets you know that she understands what happens during intercourse. Mary tells you enough that you, too, are reassured she does in fact know about it. However, she has some questions about the male anatomy. She doesn’t understand how the sperm and semen are produced. She also would like to know how a male can both urinate and ejaculate out of the same organ when women have a separate urethra and vagina. How would you explain this? (5 pts) 3. Now that you have gone over the female and male reproductive systems, Mary has a question about pregnancy. She would like to know if she can get pregnant at other times of the month other than around day 14 of her menstrual cycle. What would you tell her? (5 pts) 4. After discussing the above with Mary and the various types of contraception to prevent pregnancy, Mary asks one last question. She informs you that she has a cousin who is very close to her. Her cousin confided in her that she has had multiple sexual encounters with multiple men, and many of them are “one night stands.” She asks you what advice she should give to her cousin to promote healthy decision making. Using the sаme dаtа as in questiоn 2, assume that ABC Cоmpany expects a 10% increase in sales in the cоming year (10% more than the $575,000 it had in the past year). Prepare its sales forecast, assuming the company breaks down its sales down by month using the same percentages as the actual sales from the past year, which you calculated in the first problem.
