My bridge can wait.” Together they loaded the drawings and rolled them to a dry table. Eli thanked her but went straight back for the last stack, still focused on keeping every picture safe. [6] Once the drawings were safe, Eli helped Nia place her bridge on the cart. They reached the front display as visitors entered. Her bridge stood beside the younger students’ work instead of in front of it. [7] When a visitor praised the bridge, Nia pointed to the drawings beside it. “You should see these, too,” she said. She stayed to tell visitors about both displays. Eli checked that none of the papers were still damp, just as carefully as he had before.
