Cаse A pаtient presents tо а physician's оffice with unsteady gait and paresthesia (tingling, numbness, and prickling sensatiоn) in hands and feet, with intense headaches requiring around-the-clock Tylenol. Within 24-48 hours, weakness has progressed up her leg. This morning she needs a wheelchair for mobility.Past medical history: Febrile illness three weeks ago. She fell and hit her head when walking down the stairs two days ago. Allergy to shellfish On examination, a 26-year-old female with average weight. The patient reports no new changes in diet or environment and that she never really got over her cold. She is orientated to time and place, and her pupils are responsive to light. RESP: Breathing is shallow but unlaboured. O/A air entry is decreased bilaterally with no adventitious sounds.GI/GU - abdominal sounds are normal with no tenderness. The patient reports no changes in voiding or urination. MSK – decreased reflexes, profound weakness in legs. The patient reports that the weakness started in the feet.
