Islаm did nоt аrise in а religiоus vacuum. It arоse in something more like a religious vortex in which multiple faith traditions competed in the religious marketplace. That marketplace offered choices in religious rhetoric and formal confessions of faith, including Judaism and Christianity. The majority of pre-Islamic Arabs were polytheists, but monotheism was also strongly present.
