Pleаse reаd the Results—FMT Attenuаtes LPS-Induced Acute Lung Injury in Brоilers sectiоn and Figure 4 in Li et al. (2024) belоw. Which panel of Figure 4 supports the underlined claim in the Results (In the CF group, the third-grade bronchial congestion was severe)? Li Y, Wang K, Shen D, Liu J, Li S, Liu L, Nagaoka K, Li C. Mogroside V protects lipopolysaccharides-induced lung inflammation chicken via suppressing inflammation mediated by the Th17 through the gut-lung axis. J Anim Sci. 2025 Jan 4;103:skae388. doi: 10.1093/jas/skae388. Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) Attenuates LPS-induced Acute Lung Injury in Broilers In this study, we transplanted normal fecal microbiota (CF), fecal microbiota modified by MGV (MF), and sterile fecal filtrate (MS) into broiler with LPS-induced pneumonia. We next validated the impact of Mogroside V (MGV)-mediated microbiota on lung injury in the animal trial via transplanting the fecal microbiota derived from broiler receiving MGV to broiler. There were no significant differences in growth performance and organ indices among the three groups (Supplementary Table 1). Figure 4 shows that the degree of lung injury was different among the three groups after LPS infusion. In the CF group, the third-grade bronchial congestion was severe, and blood cells infiltrated into the bronchi. In addition, around the bronchi, the pulmonary capillaries had significantly collapsed and fused, and there was no well-defined pulmonary chamber. In the MS group, the bronchus was partially congested, and fusion was also observed. The interlobular septa were clearly visible in the MF group. The destruction of lung epithelial barrier is one of the important manifestations of pulmonary inflammation. As a result, we determined lung mechanical barrier and chemical barrier related gene expression. Compared with the CF group, MF group significantly improved the Occludin gene expression (P
