Use the fоllоwing cаse tо аnswer the next 4 questions: The pаtient is 18 years old and was in a motorcycle accident 3 days ago. He sustained fractures of the left tibia and fibula. He is 6 feet and 200 pounds. A long hard cast was applied that ends a few inches below the patella. The patient is currently in the hospital and physical therapy has been ordered. The patient is currently NWB for the left lower extremity. The cast is to remain in place for 6 weeks with progression to a walking boot which will allow the patient to be WBAT at that time. The boot will end at the middle of tibia. The patient also sustained a fracture of the right distal radius. A cast was applied from the hand to just below the elbow. The thumb and fingers were left free. Right wrist is NWB for 6 weeks and then will be full weight bearing at that time. Past medical history is unremarkable. The patient lives with his parents and two younger siblings. Other than the fractures the patient is currently healthy with no additional impairments. Patient will be discharged home from the hospital when independently walking with an assistive device.
