Cоnsider this cаse study, аnd pаy attentiоn tо the relevant readings you will be required to use in order to answer the upcoming questions.  When you are finished reading the case study, you may move on to the next question.       Linus and Charlie Brown both hold very devout beliefs. Linus was raised to believe that every Halloween, the Great Pumpkin appears out of a pumpkin patch bearing gifts for children who sincerely believe in him[1]. Charlie Brown, on the other hand, was raised to believe in an all-powerful God who created the universe and is involved with the concerns of humankind.       Is Linus and/or Charlie Brown justified in holding these beliefs? Is there an epistemological difference between what Linus believes and what Charlie Brown believes?  [1] Adapted from: Schulz, Charles. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! (Simon & Schuster: New York). 2001.   The relevant readings you should use to answer these questions are:  Thomas Aquinas, "Summa Theologiae, Part I, Question: Does God Exist?" WK Clifford, "The Ethics of Belief"  Here are the questions you should answer.  Please answer them one-by-one in the next set of text boxes What is your initial conviction about on this matter? What reasons or principles would you ground this opinion upon? Compare your reasons/principles with the reasons given by Thomas Aquinas. In your response, be sure to explain his project in proving God’s existence.  (If you would like, you may also mention Anselm’s argument, and Aquinas’s response to Anselm – but you don’t have to.)   Expand on Aquinas’s argument by explaining in more detail at least two of his “Five Ways.” Add to your response by contrasting Aquinas’ arguments with WK Clifford’s response. Explain the criteria for “sufficient evidence,”  and some of the additional reasons used in the lectures.  Be sure to use some of the examples Clifford provides to his argument. Finally, evaluate these arguments. For instance, do Aquinas’ reasons hold to Clifford’s demand for sufficient evidence?  Is Clifford’s demand for sufficient evidence too high?  Do either philosophers’ arguments reinforce your own reasons and principles concerning what ought to be done in the case study?
