Dоn cоuldn’t beаr the thоught of his friend, Vic, suffering аny longer. Vic hаd been terminally ill for some time, although it was unknown just how much longer he had to live. Vic was barely conscious and completely dependent on the life-support machines in his hospital room. Don knew that Vic didn’t want to live this way and decided to visit Vic one last time for the purpose of administering to him a fast-acting painless poison so that he would no longer suffer. Don scanned himself into the employee entrance to the hospital late that evening using a hospital employee badge he found the day prior fastened to an unattended lab coat. Once in Vic’s room, he said bye to his friend and administered the poison. Don threw the badge into a trash can and quickly left. Vic died soon after and Don was promptly arrested. This jurisdiction follows the common law with its modern distinctions where applicable. With what crimes should Don be charged? Discuss. [Please assume that Don actually and proximately caused Vic’s death]
