Instructiоns Write three fully develоped pаrаgrаphs. Grammar, spelling, and punctuatiоn matter. Use in-text or parenthetical citations when drawing from course sources. Introduction and conclusion paragraphs are not necessary. Focus on development of the three main paragraphs. Prompt In Units 1–3 of this course, we have traced how systems of racial oppression are sustained and renewed over time even after specific institutions are legally dismantled. Charles and Rah, drawing on Berger and Luckmann, describe a cycle of externalization, institutionalization, and internalization through which dysfunctional narratives become embedded in social systems creating social realities. Using two specific examples drawn from at least two different units of the course (e.g., one from Unit 2 and one from Unit 3), explain how this cycle operates. What is the mediating narrative that drives the systems in your examples? How did resistance movements — by Native American, African American, or other communities of color — challenge these narratives and systems? What does this pattern reveal about the relationship between narrative, power, and structural change?
