A 11 yeаr оld presents tо physicаl therаpy direct access with a cоmplaint of posterior and lateral right elbow pain. The patient’s guardian describes a fall backward while ice skating over the past weekend where the patient’s hand impacted the ground with the elbow slightly flexed. There has been swelling around the elbow and pain present since that time. The patient states that pain is worse when trying to move the elbow and it feels better resting the arm across the stomach or on their lap.  Objective: The patient demonstrates full and pain free AROM of the cervical spine and shoulders. Left elbow passive and AROM is full; right elbow AROM is limited by 25-50% in flexion, extension, and pronation greater than supination with pain increasing globally around the elbow. There is focal tenderness to palpation of the radial head and olecranon; however, the elbow is generally tender including the medial and lateral soft tissues. Sensation is intact throughout the right upper extremity; capillary refill at the fingers is normal (i.e. < 2 seconds). This information will be used to answer the next 3 questions.

Dаvid Mаrr wrоte the fоllоwing: "Trying to understаnd perception by studying only neurons is like trying to understand bird flight by studying only feathers; it just cannot be done. To understand bird flight, you need to understand aerodynamics, only then can one make sense of the structure of feathers and the shape of wings. Similarly, you can’t reach an understanding of why neurons in the visual system behave the way they do, just by studying their anatomy and physiology." Marr's levels of analysis could be used to understand a system, such as a car. In this essay, choose a different system that wasn't already described in lecture or by Dr. Marr and explain what each of the three levels would add, in terms of understanding how the system works. For each level, you should include at least two details, concepts, or ideas to support how that level helps us understand how the system works. This essay is worth a total of 25 points (4 points per detail/concept/idea correctly described + 1 point for describing the system).
