Hоnоrlоck Teаch-Bаck Exаm Instructions What Is This Assignment? Throughout the semester, you will complete short quizzes using Canvas and Honorlock. These are called teach-back exams. Instead of selecting multiple-choice answers, you will explain your thinking out loud. This allows me to see what you understand and how you are processing the course material. The goal is not perfection. The goal is to show your thinking clearly and honestly. How These Quizzes Work You will open the quiz in Canvas. Honorlock will record your video, audio, and screen. You must use a computer (Mac or PC) with Google Chrome. Phones and tablets will not work. During the quiz: You will see one question at a time. You cannot return to previous questions. Most quizzes use a large question pool, so no two students see the same questions. What You Are Expected to Do Read the question on the screen. Look directly into the camera. Answer the question out loud soon after reading it. Explain your thinking as clearly as you can. Move on to the next question and repeat. You should respond as if you are teaching the idea back to me. Grading & Expectations These quizzes are graded on a 1–4 scale based on your understanding and explanation. 4 – Clear understanding and explanation 3 – Mostly correct with minor gaps 2 – Partial understanding 1 – Minimal or unclear understanding I am looking for a direct, timely response that shows your thinking. You do not need perfect language, but you do need to explain your ideas honestly. Important Technical Expectations Your camera must be on. Your microphone must be working. Your screen must be shared. You must begin answering soon after reading the question. Long delays, silence, missing recordings, or technical failures mean I cannot see your thinking. No Credit & Retakes If your video, audio, or screen is not recorded, or if you delay instead, drop the feed, turn on or off your screen, or any other irregular things instead of answering, that attempt will receive no credit and you will be asked to retake the quiz. This is not a penalty—it simply means I cannot assess your response, and would like you to retest. Sometimes, glitches happen. Also, if you score lower on an assignment than you would like, and you would like to retake, simply send me an email and request the ability to retake the assessment. Before You Start Make sure Honorlock is installed. Test your camera and microphone. Choose a quiet space. If something is not working, do not start the quiz. Contact me first.
