Ainsworth wanted to look specifically at the importance of attachment in one's social development. Through her Strange Situation study, she was able to identify two types of attachment. What are these two types of attachment? Hint: This is where Ainsworth took one-year-old babies and put them in a room with their mothers. The room had toys and whatnot. Ainsworth had the mom leave the room. Then the mom came back into the room to interact with the baby. In some instances, she had the mother leave, and a stranger come in to try to interact with the baby. Then have the mother come back in with the stranger still there. Other interactions and scenarios were run while she observed from outside.
