An ecоlоgist is interested in secоndаry production within а temperаte forest habitat. Before their experiment they partition the forest into quadrats, measure light levels within the forest, and weigh the mass of fallen leaves. Then, they clear all ground cover (all fallen leaves and growth less than 2m tall) from the forest floor, and return to measure the amount of recovered plant biomass that had grown within each quadrat after 3 month, 6 months, 9 months, and finally after 1 year.
