Use the following information to answer the next FOUR questions: A 42-year-old long-haul truck driver is referred for arm and neck pain. The injury occurred 10 days ago while loading his trailer and lifting a heavy box overhead while looking up. He felt a sharp, shooting pain in his neck radiating down his left arm, and he has not returned to work since. Pain is in the left lateral neck, extending to the left anterior shoulder and down the lateral arm and forearm to the wrist. Arm pain is sharp/shooting, rated 7/10, with intermittent numbness and tingling in the same distribution. Symptoms worsen with cervical extension and left rotation and improve when he places his left hand on top of his head. Cervical ROM: extension 30°, flexion normal, right rotation 75°, left rotation 40°. Cervical distraction reduces arm pain, and left Spurling reproduces arm pain. Mid to lower cervical downslide/sideglide mobility is limited with force applied left to right. The plan of care includes manual therapy (thoracic and cervical thrust and non-thrust mobilization, soft tissue mobilization) and therapeutic exercises.
