A relatively new, experimental procedure for the destruction of cancer cells is called Boron Neutron Capture Therapy. Boron-10, a non-radioactive isotope, concentrates within cancerous tumors. The patient is then irradiated with neutrons, which are absorbed by the boron to produce high energy alpha particle radiation which can target and destroy the cancerous cells of the tumor.
