Alex identifies himself as a right-wing Christian conservative.  He believes that radical Islamic terrorists are trying to take over his community.  He has desecrated mosques by spray painting things like “No Sharia Law Here” and “This Is A Christian Nation” on them.  He argues he is within his first amendment right to free speech because he is simply protecting his country and community against an invasion of radical Islamist terrorists.  However, given the information provided, his actions would probably not be upheld as protected speech in court because he is knowingly committing vandalism and desecration of private property.
