Reentry can be harder for some inmates than others.  The public’s knowledge that some inmates are HIV positive  could be viewed as barriers for inmates reentering society.  This perception can cause some people to think all inmates are infected.

The prison culture has several adaptive roles.  Those labeled as “Gleaning” take advantage of programs in prison and attempt to better themselves for reentry.
