An 84 year old man is brought to the ED by his wife after suffering a syncopal event.  His wife reports that he was resting comfortably in his chair watching TV.  He rose to answer the phone and reported a brief feeling of dizziness prior to losing consciousness and falling to the ground.  He did not have any loss of bowel or bladder function and regained consciousness immediately after landing on the ground.  While collecting more information from the patient, he reveals that he has been experiencing progressively worsening dyspnea with exertion as well as intermittent chest pain with activity that resolves with rest.  On physical exam, you note a harsh systolic ejection murmur at the second intercostal space in the right upper sternal border.  What is your priority intervention given the most likely etiology of the patient’s syncope.
