The Richter Scale goes from a magnitude 1 to a magnitude 10.  The magnitude 1 earthquakes happen daily and are very small.  Magnitude 10 earthquakes are disastrous and occur very rarely.

I am a scientist that studies the way in which currents and waves travel within an ocean basin. 

“I am” a very important part of the Earths structure.  I am the very thin, rigid outermost shell of the planet and divided into tectonic plates.

Crust is neither produced nor destroyed at the junction where lithospheric plates shear laterally past one another.  What kind of boundary does this describe?

I am the second largest ocean and have bragging rights to the longest mountain chain on earth.
