Case BH: Barney Hart, RDH is working on his fifth patient of the day. He is running late and rushes to retrieve more sterilized gauze to wipe his instrument tips clean. He reaches into a glass apothecary jar with his exam-gloved hand to get some gauze, replaces the lid, but then knocks the jar across the smooth quartz countertop onto the floor. Plush carpet cushions the fall, so the jar does not break, but the lid does fall off and the gauze gets on the floor. Barney shoves the gauze back in the jar with his latex gloves but does not use any of it. He calls for an assistant to bring more sterilized gauze.
