Kangaroo care is when a parent holds the preterm infant with skin-to-skin contact between 2-3 hours at a time against the parent’s chest. According to the 2022 World Health Organization Recommendations,  kangaroo care does not constitute an effective way to care for preterm and low birth weight infants.
