In 2003 Orrock et al. ran an experiment to test the hypothesis that Brassica nigra competes with Nassella pulchra through apparent competition. In this system, Brassica nigra provides cover for herbivorous rodents that feed on Nassella pulchra. Orrock et al (2003) had a few key predictions.
