OK, time for your short essay question, kiddos! In our last lecture of this Unit, we started talking about organs and organ systems (YAY!).  We also discussed how these organ systems use positive or negative feedback loops to maintain homeostasis.  Put yourself in that frame of mind for this question. Please use the essay space below to answer the following parts of this question: A) At this point in the course, what is your best definition for the concept of homeostasis?  Just one or two sentences here will suffice.  You don’t need to write a thesis. B) Pick any TWO organ systems that were introduced in our last Unit 2 lecture.  Name that organ system, identify one organ that is part of that organ system, and briefly describe how this organ system contributes to homeostasis.  Again, one or two sentences for each organ system will be fine here. C) Describe the primary difference between positive and negative feedback loop mechanisms for maintaining homeostasis.  You can again be brief here (one or two sentences for each type of loop will be sufficient). MAKE SURE TO WRITE IN CLEAR AND COMPLETE SENTENCES, WITH PROPER GRAMMAR, CAPITALIZATION, AND PUNCTUATION.  YOU MIGHT ALSO WANT TO RE-READ YOUR ANSWER OUT LOUD FOR CLARITY BEFORE MOVING ON TO ANOTHER QUESTION.  REMEMBER, IF YOU PROFESSOR CAN’T UNDERSTAND YOUR ANSWER, HE CAN’T GRADE IT.
