The Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex converts pyruvate into Acetyl CoA and then determines whether this molecule will enter into the TCA cycle or continue on to Fatty Acid Synthesis. Regulation includes: Allosteric feedback inhibition from [drop1] which blocks dihydrolipoyl transacetylase and [drop2] which inhibits dihydrolipoyl dehydrogenase. Covalent modification deactivates Pyruvate Dehydrogenase by means of a [drop3] enzyme and reactivates it by means of a [drop4] enzyme. Finally, [Drop5] activates pyruvate dehydrogenase and [drop6] inhibits it.

There are four enzymes of gluconeogenesis that circumvent the irreversible steps in glycolysis.  When starting with the substrate pyruvate or lactate they are [drop1] The enzymes that remove phosphate groups during the process of gluconeogenesis and circumvent two of the three irreversible reactions of glycolysis are [drop2]
