SATA: You are the postpartum RN for caring for a 19 y/o G2P1000 who had a term NSVD. Her pregnancy was complicated by methamphetamine use and cannabis use. Pertinent medical history includes a prior diagnosis of syphilis, ADHD, and several broken bones.  Her partner is gone for the first time since you assumed care. You need to ask her the sensitive questions on the intake. What do you need to assess this patient for?

Case Study 1.7 You are the nurse caring for a 34 year old G1P0 at 41 weeks gestation. She is being induced due to gestational hypertension. The induction is started with cytotec (misoprostol) and also utilized pitocin.  You determined that the patient is having late decelerations. You have tried interventions and the late decelerations continue. The provider is in the room. The provider performs a cervical exam, 8/90/0, and has moderate amount of blood on the glove. You palpate the patient’s abdomen and would describe it as “rigid and board-like.” It has been determined that the patient is having an abruption. What do you anticipate happening next?
