The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses articulates that the nurse “promotes, advocates for, and strives to protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.” This includes protecting patient privacy. Based on this principle, if you participate in a public online social network such as Facebook, could you post images of a patient’s X-ray film if you delete all patient identifiers?

The midterm exam covers chapters chapters 1-6 and the material from the labs. It consists of ten multiple choice questions and ten problems. There is a 120 minute time limit and the exam must be completed all at once. Once you begin, there is no way to pause or restart the exam – it must be completed all at once. If you leave your computer for any reason, the time limit will continue to run. Leave yourself time to work on the exam uninterrupted, with no distractions. If, for any reason, you exit the exam, it will immediately be submitted for grading. Do not exit the exam until you are finished, or until the time limit expires. There will be no make-up exam. A formula sheet is available for students to use during the exam. It is located above the first question in the exam and can be accessed as often as needed (click the down arrow next to “Formula Sheet for Final Exam”). Students may not use a cell phone or any electronic device during the exam. Students can use scratch paper and a pencil or pen. Students will have access to an online scientific calculator during the exam. Students must remain on camera for the duration of the exam.Multiple choice questions – select the best answer for each question. Questions are one point each.Problems – calculate the answer in the units specified. Type the answer in the box provided below the problem statement. However, type only the number portion of the answer. Do not include units. Blackboard will not recognize the units we use and will mark those answers wrong. Include negative signs where appropriate. Do not use fractions, only decimals. Problems are worth two points each.If your exam is not completed by 11:59 PM ET on May 8 it will be recorded as a zero. Actions and behaviors that will be flagged as violations of exam rules during a recorded exam are as follows:• Improper ID: Not showing an ID, showing an improper ID, or showing a blurry ID will be considered to be a violation of these exam rules.• Talking aloud: Talking or whispering aloud during the exam is not permitted.• Being out of camera view: Your face, chin to forehead, needs to be in the camera view at all times.• Anyone entering your testing area: You may not have anyone else in your testing location with you. You may not communicate anything to any other person in any way.• Anyone talking to you while you’re in your testing area: Additional noises, including other people talking to you, while you’re in your exam are not allowed.• Looking off-screen: Looking anywhere not on the screen or on the allowed materials.• Utilizing materials that are not allowed: Cell phones or other electronic devices are not permitted. • Taking pictures or screenshots of the exam: Taking pictures while in your exam, including screenshots, is not permitted.• Copying and pasting any elements of the exam: In most cases, the system will not allow you to copyand paste any content from your exam. Regardless of whether you can or cannot perform this function, the Guardian Browser will capture all events of copy and paste that occur. These will be flagged as exam rules violations. • Utilizing a virtual machine: Virtual machines can be detected through the pre-exam system check, and are not permitted.• Utilizing a secondary monitor: You are only allowed to use one screen or monitor attached to one computer during your exam. If any of the above behaviors are flagged during the exam, the instructor will set aside the exam score and a grade of zero will be recorded for the exam.
