When we look at the magnetic field in ancient igneous rocks…

When we look at the magnetic field in ancient igneous rocks on the Earth, we find that rocks of the same age have magnetic fields that point in different directions, like the top map below. Someday in the future, scientists would like to make similar measurements on Mars. If we were to measure the magnetic fields trapped in ancient igneous rocks on Mars, scientists expect to find that the magnetic field in rocks of the same age will all point the same direction, like the bottom map.  Attributions Images Strebe. Beeman Company exchanged machinery with an appraised value of $4,680,000, a recorded cost of $7,200,000 and accumulated depreciation of $3,600,000 with Lacey Corporation for machinery Lacey owns. The machinery has an appraised value of $4,520,000, a recorded cost of $8,640,000, and accumulated depreciation of $4,752,000. Lacey also gave Beeman $160,000 in the exchange. Assume depreciation has already been updated.   Instructions (a)   Prepare the entries on both companies’ books assuming that the exchange had commercial substance.  (Round all computations to the nearest dollar.) (b)        Prepare the entries on both companies’ books assuming that the exchange lacked commercial substance.  (Round all computations to the nearest dollar.)

Tarzan and Jane adopted a newborn monkey and called him Bong…

Tarzan and Jane adopted a newborn monkey and called him Bongo. Unlike other monkeys, Bongo likes dried strawberries and consumes 20 strawberries per week. The nearest strawberry producer to Tarzan and Jane’s house (tree in fact) is far away. Tarzan and Jane estimate that they’ll have to use a day of their neighbor’s elephant every time they shop from that farmer. The neighbor charges them $40 for each trip. One strawberry costs $4. Jane also calculates the holding cost of 1 strawberry as $1 per week, because strawberries occupy a lot of place in their tree. Assume that Tarzan and Jane will never let Bongo be hungry (i.e., no backorders). P.S. In Tarzan’s forest, each week has 5 days.  When should Tarzan and Jane place an order (i.e., calculate the ROP)?

Western National Bank is considering opening a drive‐through window for customer service. Management estimates that customers will arrive at the rate of 15 per hour. The teller who will staff the window can service customers at the rate of one every three minutes. Assume all times to be exponential. Please calculate the service rate.
