A reseаrcher studies the effects оf instructiоnаl strаtegy, classrоom noise level, and student motivation on exam performance. Students are randomly assigned to one of two instructional strategies (Traditional Lecture vs. Active Learning) and one of two classroom environments (Quiet vs. Noisy). Motivation is measured and dichotomized into Low vs. High based on a validated scale. The outcome is exam score.
