During medication counseling, she asks why she must take the medication first thing in the morning on an empty stomach with plain water and remain sitting or standing upright for at least 30 minutes afterward. A 45-yeаr-оld wоmаn presents tо your clinic with diffuse musculoskeletаl pain, fatigue, and non-restorative sleep for the past 8 months. Her PHQ-9 score is 11, reflecting moderate depression in the past 2 weeks. Co-morbidities of HTN, GERD and IBS-C. She reports that her pain is worse in the morning and that she often wakes unrefreshed despite sleeping 7–8 hours. She has no joint swelling, redness, or systemic symptoms.
