We аrrive оn scene оf а medicаl call tо find a 65 yowm that reports of having blood in his stool for the last three days. The EMT obtained a SAMPLE: S- weak, pallor with diaphoresis; A- PCN; M- Amlodipine, Ativan, and ASA; P- TIA and HTN; L- Ate pizza 2 hours ago; E- I have been just sitting around the house. The following are the vital signs: Blood pressure 75/38; Heart Rate 80; Resp. Rate 24; Pulse Ox of 94 %, RA. The other EMT from another agency tells the patient-- " I think you are fine, just increase your water intake with rest because you are a little dehydrated. You may call us back tomorrow if you are not feeling any better." Would you concur with this EMT? If not, then why not? [To obtain all the points, the student needs to list what category of shock and type of shock is occuring, if any? Why patient does or does not need to go to the hospital? What treatment would we need to or not need to be provided (think lab)? and, explain the vitals why or why not we would need to be transported to the hospital and receive medical care?
