Writing Prоmpt: This intrоductоry writing exercise is meаnt to eаse us into the prаctice of creative/imaginative writing. Use the textbox below to write your answer. Prompt: In 250-300 words, describe one place you've lived during your lifetime in vivid detail. You will focus on the dwelling, not the wider neighborhood or surroundings. Describe this dwelling using specific imagery. In doing so, think about the five senses: what did/does the place look like, smell like, sound like? Do you remember the texture of a rug or wall? When writing imagistically, you want to be as specific/detailed as possible. For instance, don't just say that it had "white walls," say the walls were meticulously painted off-white and that someone repainted every two years to keep them fresh. Or, that the walls were painted off-white but covered in crayon markings. Don't just say that you can still smell your grandma's cooking; tell me what kind of stove, what she is cooking, and what she is wearing in this moment. Your mission with this assignment is to transport me along with you to this dwelling so that I too can experience it through your use of detailed, imagistic language. Provide an many different specific details as possible. You may take me back to one specific day there, or your piece may be a collection of details from across many years in this residence.    Guidelines: Your piece must stick to the assignment prompt. Break your piece in paragraphs for readability. It must be between 250-300 words. As you type, you can view your word count below your text entry box. It must be completed in one hour or less.
