Proctored Exam Instructions This is a CLOSED-NOTE exam. The use of your textbook, e-book, class notes, any AI agent/technology, or any other reference materials is strictly prohibited. You may use up to two sheets of scratch paper during the exam. You must remain seated and visible on camera for the entire duration of the exam. Bathroom breaks and leaving the webcam view are not permitted.   The following items are not allowed during the exam: Tablets Laptops (other than the testing computer) Smart watches Secondary monitors Smart glasses Handheld calculators Any other electronic devices not explicitly required for proctoring   Failure to follow these instructions will result in either academic misconduct proceedings or exam invalidation, as described below.   Side-Angle Camera Requirements A side-angle camera is required for this exam. You must use your cell phone as your side-angle camera. Your phone must remain in side-angle camera mode, positioned to show your hands, keyboard, and testing area for the entire exam. Your phone must be mounted or propped at a fixed position before the exam begins. It may not be held or moved during the exam. The phone screen must face away from you after the camera is active, so it cannot be used as a reference or communication device. The camera feed must remain active and unobstructed for the duration of the exam. Disconnecting, repositioning, or obstructing the side-angle camera during the exam will result in exam invalidation.   Room Scan Requirements During the room scan, you must slowly show your entire testing area, including: The desk or table where you are seated The surrounding room and workspace Any areas within reach of the testing environment Failure to conduct a complete room scan will result in exam invalidation.   Testing Environment Requirements To avoid violations, ensure the following: The room is well-lit so that your face and surrounding area are clearly visible. Your desk or table is free of all unauthorized materials, including books, papers, notebooks, calculators, and other items unless specifically permitted for this exam. Your entire upper body, from the desk to the top of your head, is visible for the entirety of the session. No visible writing appears on desks, tables, walls, or nearby surfaces. All programs, applications, and browser windows not required for the exam are closed before entering the testing environment. No loud music, television, or other distractions are present. No other individuals are present in or near the testing area. Communication with any third party is strictly prohibited.   Academic Misconduct The following actions constitute academic misconduct and will be referred to the Math Department and College for disciplinary action per department and college policy: Using or attempting to use AI tools (including but not limited to ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar tools) during the exam Using or attempting to use a virtual machine during the exam Using or attempting to use an AI agent during the exam Attempting to obtain the exam password by any means Using a phone or other secondary device for any purpose other than the required side-angle camera Any other obvious attempt to have a person or automated system complete the assessment on your behalf   Exam Invalidation The following behaviors will result in your exam being deleted. You will be required to come to one of our on campus testing centers in-person to retake the assessment: Failing to provide or maintain an active, unobstructed side-angle camera feed Failing to maintain a full upper-body webcam view from the top of your head to the desk surface at all times. Moving out of webcam view or covering your face Obstructing the webcam Altering or manipulating room lighting during the exam Leaving the testing area Muting your device Frequently looking away from the screen Using false identification Using additional monitors Taking screenshots, photographs, or screen recordings of exam content Failing to conduct a complete room scan Any other prohibited behavior not classified as academic misconduct above   Two exam invalidations will result in the loss of Honorlock testing privileges for the remainder of the semester, at which point all remaining assessments must be completed in-person at the on campus testing center. By proceeding with the exam, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these requirements, and you agree to comply with all testing and proctoring policies.
