Belоw аre key expectаtiоns аnd respоnsibilities for Spanish 401. Please read each statement carefully. By selecting “Agree” at the end of this page, you confirm that you understand and agree to follow these course requirements and policies. I understand that active participation is required to remain enrolled in the course. Students who have not actively participated during the previous seven days may be dropped from the course. I understand that active participation means completing at least 50% of the assignments in each weekly module by the posted deadline. Completing only selected activities does not constitute active participation or consistent progress through the course. I understand that course modules must be completed in sequential order. I will access my coursework through Modules rather than relying exclusively on the Canvas To-Do List, and I understand that incomplete required activities may prevent me from accessing later coursework. I understand that submitting an assignment does not necessarily constitute completion. Assignments submitted primarily blank, with required questions unanswered, or without required components do not demonstrate active participation. I am expected to make a reasonable attempt to complete all required parts of each assignment. I understand that both the Midterm Oral Exam and Final Oral Exam are mandatory. I must sign up for and attend both oral evaluations in order to pass the course. Failure to complete either mandatory oral evaluation will result in a failing grade in the course. I understand that this fully online course requires regular participation throughout each week. Each weekly module includes an early-week checkpoint and an end-of-week deadline, and I am responsible for keeping track of all posted deadlines. I understand the technology requirements for this course. I need reliable internet access, a computer with a functioning webcam and microphone, Google Chrome, and the Honorlock Chrome extension to complete course exams. I understand that Weekly Exams and the Final Exam are proctored using Honorlock. During exams, I must be alone in a quiet environment, my webcam must remain on, and my full face must remain visible on camera. I may not use notes, translators, AI tools, other people, or other unauthorized materials or resources during an exam. I understand that some course assignments require video recordings. When required, my full face must be visible on camera and my voice must be clearly audible. A video submission that does not include both my visible face and audible voice will receive a zero. I understand that I am responsible for regularly checking Canvas Announcements, my Los Rios email, Canvas Inbox, assignment comments, rubrics, and grades. Email and push notifications are helpful reminders, but not receiving a notification does not remove my responsibility to check Canvas regularly. I understand that I am responsible for submitting assignments by the posted deadlines. If I anticipate difficulty meeting a deadline or begin falling behind, I should contact my instructor as early as possible. I understand the course late-work policy. Eligible activities submitted within five days after the deadline receive a 10% deduction per day. An activity that is no longer eligible for credit may still need to be completed if it is required to progress to the next activity or module. I understand the course Academic Integrity policy regarding translators and AI. Unless explicitly permitted in the assignment instructions, I may not use ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grammarly, Google Translate, or similar tools to generate, translate, rewrite, or correct work that I submit for credit. I understand that work submitted for credit must represent my own learning and language ability. Using unauthorized materials or assistance, copying another student's work, submitting work created by someone else, or using prohibited AI or translation tools may result in academic and/or disciplinary consequences as described in the syllabus and Student Standards of Conduct. I understand that I am responsible for reading and following all course policies in the syllabus. If I am unsure about a policy, I am responsible for contacting my instructor for clarification. Not being aware of a course policy does not excuse me from following it. By selecting “Agree,” I confirm that I have read and understood the statements above and agree to follow the policies, responsibilities, and expectations outlined in the Spanish 401 course syllabus.
