Select which type оf evidence is best described in the аbstract below. Background: Neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) nurses frequently provide end-of-life care, a role that requires balancing technical expertise with emotional support for families. Understanding their lived experiences is critical to designing interventions that promote resilience and reduce burnout.  Methods: Using a phenomenological approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 12 NICU nurses from two tertiary hospitals. Interviews explored perceptions of role responsibilities, emotional challenges, and coping strategies. Data were transcribed verbatim and analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s six-phase thematic analysis.  Results: Three overarching themes emerged: (1) Emotional labor and moral distress—nurses described internal conflict when aggressive treatments were prolonged despite poor prognosis; (2) Relational presence—nurses emphasized the importance of “being with” families, even when words were insufficient; and (3) Adaptive coping—participants identified peer debriefing and reflective journaling as key strategies for resilience.  Conclusion: NICU nurses experience profound emotional and ethical challenges in end-of-life care. Findings highlight the need for structured institutional supports, such as facilitated debriefing sessions and resilience training, to sustain the workforce and improve family-centered care.
