Operаtive Nоte Indicаtiоns: The pаtient was brоught to the ED from work with reports of a foreign body in the right eye. He was helping with the construction of an industrial building, and he was wearing safety glasses but stated that a piece of magnetic metal had flown into the eye. He reported slight irritation but no blurred vision. Pupils are equal, round, and reactive to light and accommodation (PERRLA): Fundi without edema. There was no foreign body on lid eversion. Slit lamp showed a foreign body approximately 2 to 3 o’clock on the edge of the cornea. It appeared to be metallic. Iris was intact. There were no cells in the anterior chamber. Procedure: Two drops of proparacaine hydrochloride ophthalmic solution were used in the right eye. With use of slit lamp, the foreign body was removed without difficulty.
