He notes that he feels the pain mostly when he is falling asleep in his bed and when he wakes up. He feels that the firm mattress his wife makes him sleep on contributes to the pain and is the reason for the pain as this occurred about the time they got a new mattress. He describes the pain as throbbing quality. He notes when he extends his back the pain gets better, but sometimes can still feel the throbbing. How would you proceed.
