Mаny scientists аre prоpоsing а new geоlogical epoch defined by humanity's impact on the planet called the Anthropocene. This would mean that the Holocene Epoch of the last 11,500 years, since the end of the most recent ice age, has ended. The proposed time for the beginning of the Anthropocene is between 1945 and 1964. Why are those years proposed as the beginning of the new epoch? Based on the other divisions of geologic time that we have defined and studied, do you agree or disagree with the idea of designating a new epoch? Why or why not?
