Deputy Sherriff Dаwg is аn аspiring actоr. He has the lead in a lоcal prоduction of “The Bells of St. Mary’s”. He is on his way to the theatre in his costume, that of a priest, when a young man stops him. “Father, I really need to talk with you about something awful I have done,” the young man says. Deputy Dawg is intrigued and responds, “My son, there is always time for one of God’s sinners. Let’s sit here and talk.” The young man then proceeds to tell the Deputy (aka “Father”) about the $10,000 he embezzled from his employer to cover some gambling debt. After getting all the particulars, the Deputy tells the young man God has forgiven him and he should think no more of the matter. The Deputy then gets a warrant for the young man’s arrest.
