Al аpprоаched Burt with а plan tо make a lоt of money. For three weeks, Al had surveilled a large church in the neighborhood. Each week after the offering was collected at 11:25 AM, the ushers would take the collection to a nearby building where it was placed in a safe. Al explained to Burt that all they had to do was threaten the ushers with a gun when the money was brought outside the main worship center. They would then take the money and run. After Al laid out the plan, Burt was initially mortified by the prospect of what this might mean for his soul. Al then assured Burt that, since they were both poor, that helping themselves to all of this money would actually be in keeping with the church’s teaching. Al promised Burt that “no one gets hurt.” After giving it some thought, Burt finally saw the wisdom of Al’s plan and agreed to join him in his mission. So, the next Sunday, Al and Burt showed up at the church. They both donned ski masks as they approached the worship facility at the predetermined time. And to their surprise, they were confronted by a sign which read: “Church picnic today at Southgate Park.” As they stood gazing at the sign, a security guard saw them standing there with their ski masks and asked them what they were doing. Al immediately panicked and struck the security guard with a handgun, knocking him unconscious. Al and Burt fled the scene. When they finally arrived at Al’s apartment, Burt protested to Al: “you promised that no one would get hurt.” A witness later identified the two men as she saw them before they had put on their ski masks. Al and Burt were both arrested. Discuss all legal issues relating to (1) Al’s proposal to Burt; (2) the agreement to carry out the caper; (3) the execution of the plan at the church; and, (4) Burt’s criminal responsibility for the harm to the security guard.

That voice knows that the term boring will stop you dead in your tracks, so you’ll hear yourself saying that a lotabout your writing. Hear “You are boring” as distant white laundry flapping in the breeze. Eventually it will dry up andsomeone miles away will fold it and take it in. Meanwhile you will continue to write.
After yоu reаd the pаssаge abоve, write a respоnse using the format we have been using in class. You need a topic sentence, evidence, and explanation. Remember the topic sentence has the main idea or message that the writer wants to express. We have been studying a format for this. Make sure all the components are included. This is formal writing, so make sure that all the spelling and grammar is correct. Read it through a few times after you write it. In the explanation section after the evidence, try to include an example that relates to the main idea that really helps the reader understand the significance. Use something interesting as an example from your own life that you have experienced, felt, or observed. Give your writing energy. For extra credit, add in at least one sentence that joins two simple sentences together using and or but.
